HSA25-04 Casual Women' s Support Worker
The South Okanagan Women in Need
Society (SOWINS) respectfully acknowledges that they work on the traditional

Located in the beautiful Okanagan
Valley, SOWINS is a non-profit society providing safe refuge and
community-based resources for women and children in the South Okanagan. SOWINS
operates a transitional and second stage housing facilities, as well as counselling
and outreach services. At SOWINS we work from an intersectional feminist
philosophy and support trauma-informed practice and harm reduction models.
ABOUT THE ROLE: We are currently recruiting for a casual
Women's Support Worker (Overnights) to join our team. The Women's
Support Worker identifies client needs and risks to women who have experienced
or are at risk of abuse, and their children, in a residential setting. The Women's Support Worker develops and
implements short-term, issue-specific intervention plans within program
guidelines. This position also provides crisis intervention, safety planning
and emotional support as well as skill building in problem areas to women and
their children in a group housing setting; provides information about the
nature of abuse; helps women access housing and other services that will enable
them to avoid further risk of violence; participates in public education and
prevention activities.
Gender
is a bona fide occupational requirement of this position: only women
(trans, cis), gender diverse, and two-spirit applicants will be considered.
Schedule: Casual
on-call / Overnights (11:00pm – 8:00am)
Union: This position
requires union membership, under Health Sciences Association (HSA).
Wage: $27.54 – $31.61
depending on length of service (HSA Grid 11). This position will also receive a
Temporary Market Adjustment (TMA), to reach the wage rate of $31.56 – 33.49, as
well as eligible premiums.
Benefits: Provided in
accordance with the terms of the Collective Agreement.
Start date: April 1, 2025
QUALIFICATIONS:

Diploma
in a related human, or social service field
·
Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C
Certification
·
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI)
·
Valid Class 5 driver's license and acceptable
