The Opportunity:

Our client is a well-established Vancouver-based, best-in-class, multi-business line retail organization. With a workforce of approximately 500 employees, the company plays a vital role in supporting local communities by providing essential products and services.

As the business continues to evolve and strengthen its financial capabilities, they are seeking a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to join their finance team. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Victoria, BC.

This individual will provide strategic leadership across the organization's financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting functions. They deliver insights to support strategic and operational decision-making. This is a highly visible role, working closely with senior leadership to shape financial strategy and enable sustainable growth.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the financial reporting and planning functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements in accordance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to set financial targets and monitor performance.
  • Deliver actionable financial insights and scenario analyses to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide financial guidance that supports operational excellence and growth.
  • Optimize financial reporting systems, tools, and processes to improve efficiency and data quality.
  • Oversee internal controls, financial policies, and compliance frameworks.
  • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, development, and high performance.
  • Support the executive team with financial modeling, board reporting, and special strategic initiatives.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • Significant experience in financial reporting and financial planning, with progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven track record leading budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in a complex, multi-division environment.
  • Proficiency with financial systems, reporting tools, and data analytics.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent advanced education is an asset.
  • Experience in retail, consumer goods, or multi-site organizations is considered an advantage.

Compensation Range: $150-170K
