Senior Test Engineer – IP Routing

Ciena is searching for a highly skilled Senior Test Engineer in IP Routing to contribute to cutting-edge technologies such as EVPN, Segment Routing, Multicast, and more within a virtualized, container-based system architecture. How You Will Contribute:

• Advance expertise in system and network virtualization (Containers, SDN, NFV), advanced routing protocols (BGP, Segment Routing, EVPN, MPLS), and Ethernet services.
• Explore and implement AI-powered testing tools and techniques to enhance automation, efficiency, and coverage.
• Develop automated tests leveraging AI/ML tools and Gen-AI for faster and smarter workflows.
• Troubleshoot routing protocol and service issues by identifying root causes, debugging, and collaborating with developers for swift resolution.
• Continuously improve test coverage, validation, automation, and documentation to ensure high-quality product delivery.
• Collaborate in an agile development environment, participating in sprint planning and coordinating QA activities across scrums.

The Must Haves:

• Hands-on expertise in EVPN, Segment Routing, MPLS, BGP, ISIS, IPv6, and control plane technologies.
• Proficiency in Python programming, git, pytest, and test automation tools.
• Strong knowledge of feature test planning, risk-aware testing methodologies, defect workflows, and metrics.
• Proven ability to diagnose and solve complex defects, working with cross-functional teams and customer support.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence and evolve ideas collaboratively.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master's preferred).

Nice to Haves:

• Experience in developing automated tests using AI, Gen-AI, and AI/ML tools.
• Understanding of AI-driven testing methodologies and software development using AI/ML.
• A customer-first mindset with a commitment to high-quality product delivery and satisfaction.

Pay Range:
The base salary range for this role in Ottawa is $125,000 - $142,300.

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
