   Role: Site Observer, Supervised Parenting Time Program  Reports to: Program Coordinator  Location: York Region service sites (Aurora) Position type: Part-Time Contract, up to 10 hours per week (Friday: 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m., Sunday: 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 pm.) Compensation: $22.44 per hour and 4% vacation pay
Organization Overview 
Social Enterprise for Canada (SEC) is a charitable organization started in 1989 and serving York Region, Peel Region and Simcoe County. SEC seeks, secures and delivers a range of public services dedicated to creating communities that exemplify Canadian values of respect, inclusion, diversity, equity and sustainability.  
SEC maintains its head office in Newmarket and provides public service signature expertise for immigrants, newcomers, early learning and development, Family Justice Service, Career and Labour market integration through programs such as Supervised Parenting Time program, EarlyOn Child & Family Centres, Welcome Centre for Immigrant Services-Newmarket and several Before & After School and Licensed Childcare Programs. 
The Opportunity 
Supervised Parenting Time program provides an opportunity for families to maintain contact with their child(ren) to build and sustain relationships. In addition, the program provide a safe drop-off or exchange point where children may be transferred between a custodial parent and another relative, or the access parent. 
As Site Observer for the York Region Supervised Parenting Time Programs you will provide a key role in providing a safe, child-focused, and neutral environment where parents or other family members can visit with their child(ren). In addition, the program offers a secure location for supervised exchanges, allowing child(ren) to be safely transferred between a residential party and a visiting party, or between parties who share joint decision-making responsibilities for the child(ren). Your role ensures the delivery of high-quality services aligned with the objectives of the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services, and in compliance with all legal, ethical, and non-conflict guidelines. You will demonstrate leadership by upholding the organization's values, principles, and goals, while helping to create a safe, respectful, and positive experience for all children and families involved.

Key Job Responsibilities:  
• Maintain full compliance to all Social Enterprise for Canada (SEC) policies, procedures, and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services' service objectives for Supervised Parenting Time Programs
• Support and provide direction to adults and children involved in high-conflict family situations
• Adhere to all program requirements and protocols consistently
• Demonstrate confidence and assertiveness while consistently maintaining a respectful, professional, and impartial approach
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills in English
• Effectively multitask while performing observations, active listening, and documentation during parenting time visits
• Prepare clear, concise, and objective documentation that is both accurate and timely, for use in client files and potential court proceedings.
• Exhibit a sound understanding of family dynamics and demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions
• Remain highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision
• Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold standards of non-harassment and other organizational policies
• Demonstrate advanced computer proficiency and strong time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
Candidate Profile
• Post-secondary diploma or degree in human service or related field and /or equivalent experience 
• Legally entitled to work in Canada 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and the ability to resolve conflict
• Proven multitasker to carry our family observation, active listening, and documentation   
• Experience with factual documentation writing for client and court records   
• Experience with family dynamics and the ability to provide culturally sensitive services
• Highly organized, self-motivated and self-directed
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Office
• Strong administrative skills
• Ability to speak multiple languages is considered an asset
• Available and committed to attend required training and/or meetings at various affiliated sites Other Requirements
• Certifications: First Aid-CPR and CPI
• Valid driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation
• Clear Vulnerable Sector Screen
• Commitment to part-time role with scheduled hours rotating as needed to support program.   
• Minimum shift availability of 2 full weekends a month required. 
• Must be available for shifts Friday's 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., and Sunday's 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.    
• Travel is required between sites as needed
• Ability to physically set up physical space and to assist children
• Programs run 36-44 weekends a year. The service is closed on all weekends with statutory holidays.   
• Lengthy sitting, typing and writing   
• Focused observation of families.
