Position Summary

The Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the organization's warehousing, inventory management, and distribution operations. This role will lead a team to achieve operational excellence, ensure compliance with safety standards, optimize space utilization, and deliver outstanding service to internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will combine strong leadership skills with deep logistics expertise, ERP proficiency, and a focus on continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Manage and coordinate the organization, staffing, and daily operational activities of the warehouse and storeroom.
  • Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the logistics function.
  • Set clear KPIs for team members and monitor performance against established metrics.
  • Direct, review, and approve work plans for assigned staff, ensuring alignment with business objectives.

Safety & Compliance

  • Implement and maintain safety guidelines; conduct safety gap analyses and safety talks.
  • Investigate workplace injuries or unsafe conditions and ensure timely incident reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and industry standards.

Inventory & Space Management

  • Monitor material usage and maintain accurate records of inventory transactions.
  • Oversee cycle counting and investigate any discrepancies in finished goods inventory.
  • Optimize warehouse space utilization through facility layout design for maximum storage efficiency.

Shipping & Distribution

  • Develop delivery schedules and drop shipment strategies to meet customer needs.
  • Coordinate shipments with brokerages, LTL, FTL, and courier services.
  • Liaise with outside agencies, suppliers, and customers to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Select, train, motivate, and evaluate warehouse and logistics personnel.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback; escalate issues where necessary.
  • Implement disciplinary procedures in accordance with company policies.

Strategic & Administrative Duties

  • Assist with budget preparation and ongoing cost control.
  • Prepare and present operational reports and correspondence to senior management.
  • Identify and integrate new trends, innovations, and best practices in warehousing and logistics.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of progressive experience in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated experience working with ERP systems and shipment processing platforms; experience with Epicor is considered an asset.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong decision-making abilities, with the capacity to weigh costs and benefits to determine optimal actions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to negotiate effectively with carriers, suppliers, brokers, and customers.
  • Proven system evaluation skills to measure performance against operational goals.
  • Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to address complex logistics challenges.
  • In-depth knowledge of logistics processes, transportation management, and inventory control best practices.

Working Conditions

  • Office and warehouse environment; may require extended periods of standing or walking.
  • Occasional travel to suppliers, distribution centers, or customer locations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet operational needs.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $75,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
