Position Overview
As a Yard Worker, you play a key role in supporting Da-Lee's operational readiness by maintaining the yard, equipment, and truck systems to ensure reliable and safe field performance. This hands-on role requires strong mechanical aptitude, particularly with pumps, hoses, and small engines, as well as general yard maintenance experience.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment and Pump Maintenance

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair yard pumps, hoses, fittings, and valves to ensure reliable truck and tank operations
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and small engine repairs on portable pumps and yard
    equipment
  • Assist with setting up and monitoring fluid transfer systems for calcium chloride and other bulk materials
  • Ensure all yard equipment is clean, organized, and in good working order

Truck Loading and Yard Operations

  • Safely fill and load trucks with calcium chloride or other materials, following all safety and environmental protocols
  • Conduct product transfers between storage tanks and transport units as directed
  • Support truck staging and readiness by checking connections, hoses, and loading points

Grounds and Facility Maintenance

  • Maintain the general appearance and safety of the yard, including grass cutting, snow
    removal, and debris cleanup
  • Operate small machinery such as lawn tractors, trimmers, and pressure washers
  • Assist with organizing materials, tools, and supplies within the yard and shop areas

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including use of required PPE.
  • Report equipment issues, spills, or hazards promptly to supervision.
  • Support environmental compliance through proper handling and storage of materials.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a yard, mechanical, or industrial environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience in pump operation, fluid systems, and small engine repair.
  • Ability to operate small tools and equipment safely (e.g., mowers, trimmers, pressure washers).
  • Forklift experience or certification is an asset.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions year-round.
  • Dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
  • SMHC Engine Certification is an asset.
  • Welding Certification is an asset
