Meridia Recruitment Solutions is pleased to partner with Aethera in search of a motivated FPGA Design Engineer to join their growing team in Halifax.
Role Description
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will contribute to the development of leading-edge technology. You will work independently and collaborate closely with Aethera's custom equipment and system design teams on all aspects of FPGA and HDL design, from concept and implementation through testing, maintenance, and documentation. Following industry best practices, you will also partner with the embedded software team to develop the HDL components of firmware for Aethera's hardware platforms.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and implementing FPGA solutions end-to-end, including development, integration, and support, following current HDL standards.
- Performing timing analysis and optimization of FPGA designs for performance and reliability.
- Developing HDL for control and signal processing tailored to custom applications.
- Creating and maintaining design documentation for FPGA and overall embedded system designs.
- Conducting system testing and verification, including preparation of test documentation.
- Planning work, estimating effort, and delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Assisting with troubleshooting issues at both board and system levels.
Your Qualifications
As the ideal candidate, you are a graduate from a recognized program providing the required foundation in FPGA design and embedded systems. You are proficient in Verilog or VHDL and have experience with embedded controllers and firmware design. You must be eligible to meet the requirements for industrial security and the Controlled Goods Program.
Your qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Graduate-level specialization in HDL is considered an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in relevant roles.
- Hands-on experience with HDL and FPGA design at both block and system levels.
- Proficiency in Verilog (preferred) or VHDL.
- Familiarity with MATLAB or Octave is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics accurately.
- Experience with AMD Vivado Design Suite is an advantage.
- Background in implementing digital signal processing algorithms in HDL.
