Division: Utilities and EnvironmentDepartment: Saskatoon Light & PowerTerm: 1 Permanent Full Time position available.Closing Date: 01/30/2026Labour Group: SCMMAPosting: 4769Job SummaryThis position performs professional electrical engineering work involving design and project management in relation to distribution, substation, street lighting and metering facilities.Duties & ResponsibilitiesDesigns various electrical facilities, such as systems for overhead and underground distribution, transmission, street lighting, secondary networks, substations, protection & control, communication systems and metering.Prepares work orders, plans, specifications and schedules for the supply of materials, equipment, consulting services and contractor services for construction projects.Evaluates tenders and proposals and makes recommendations regarding the award of supply contracts.Manages various projects and contracted services to ensure adherence to plans, terms, budgets and time schedules, including preparing related reports.Coordinates project work with the requirements of other utilities, agencies and authorities having jurisdiction, including ensuring necessary jurisdiction approvals are obtained.Establishes and maintains construction standards.Deals with contractors, major equipment and material suppliers and consultants regarding technical matters relating to the acquisition of materials equipment and services and the provision of electrical services to customers.Supervises other technical staff as assigned.Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation, Training and Experience RequirementsDegree in electrical engineering or related field.Four to six years' experience in electric utility distribution and transmission, substation, street lighting and/or metering system design.Registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan.Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence.Current driver's abstract demonstrating a safe driving record.Knowledge, Abilities and SkillsKnowledge of the principles and techniques involved in the design, construction and general operation of electrical distribution, transmission, street lighting and metering systems.Ability to analyze, evaluate and prepare a variety of reports, plans and specifications.Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.Weekly Hours: 36.67Salary Range: $86,211.84 to $101,175.60 CAD per annum (2023 rates)Diversity, Equity and InclusionThe City of Saskatoon offers an inclusive workplace that embraces diverse backgrounds.
