We seek a full-time comprehensive ophthalmologist for a permanent position in the West Kootenays, to compliment the services of two other ophthalmologists already practicing in this region. Although this is a comprehensive position, subspecialty training in oculoplastics or glaucoma would be an asset but is not mandatory.

The ophthalmologists serve the West Kootenay catchment area of approximately ~80,000. You could live and work in any of the 3 central West Kootenay sites. Trail is the regional hospital for the area; Nelson houses the ophthalmic operating room facilities with both modern cataract surgical suite set up and instrumentation for glaucoma and other procedures. If interested, there are teaching opportunities since Trail is a UBC medical school training site.

The successful applicant would ideally start by fall 2019, but the start date is negotiable. Volumes are manageable for a full time practice, and you would establish your own work schedule. There are no call requirements. Both new grads and experience applicants will be considered.
