Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Tutor to support students in achieving their academic goals. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for teaching, strong communication skills, and experience working with children. This role involves providing personalized instruction in various subjects, with a focus on math. The Tutor will play a vital role in fostering a positive learning environment and helping students build confidence and skills for academic success.

Duties

  • Deliver one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions tailored to individual student needs
  • Assist students with homework, test preparation, and understanding core concepts in subjects such as math, computer science, and other academic areas
  • Develop customized lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and student learning goals
  • Utilize effective teaching methods and educational tools to engage students and enhance learning outcomes
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents/guardians
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, attendance, and student performance
  • Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and special education requirements
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and school staff to support student development

Requirements

  • Experience working with children in an educational or tutoring setting
  • Strong knowledge of math or related subjects; classroom experience is a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to connect effectively with students of varying ages and backgrounds
  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans tailored to individual learning needs
  • Familiarity with educational technology and computer skills for virtual or hybrid tutoring sessions
  • Background in education or experience supporting students with diverse learning needs is desirable
  • Patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed
  • Prior tutoring or teaching experience is preferred but not mandatory

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $18.05-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 5 per week

  • St. Catharines, ON L2M 4V4: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
