We are seeking a
Construction Manager
or a
Senior Project Manager
that can transition into a main leader in the Kingston territory. They will be hired to help maintain and grow the construction mechanical operations in Kingston. This person will need to strengthen our relations with new and existing clients and help execute projects on the go.
As a member of Modern Niagara, the mission of the Construction Manager will be to provide oversight and solutions to ensure the successful execution of various projects by leading a team of project managers and coordinators. The Construction Manager will be responsible for delivering an amazing customer experience in a multi-trade environment ensuring the seamless delivery of the Modern's four core services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively participating and contributing in estimating turnover, and pre-construction meetings
- Ensuring the successful completion of assigned projects, their profitability, and retaining the owner as a key client
- Establishing project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within the boundaries of Modern Niagara policies
- Monitoring and controlling construction progress through administrative direction of on-site project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget
- Mentor, coach and supervise Project Managers and Project Coordinators
- Work with Labour managers to ensure optimum utilization of labour, material and other resources across all projects
- Managing financial aspects of contracts to protect the company's interests
- Monthly Forecasting and reporting to Area/Operations Manager
- Assisting with reviews and negotiation of contracts; liaises with legal counsel as appropriate in conjunction with the Area Manager and Operations Manager
- Developing, recommending and implementing project plans upon project award
- Monitoring and controlling progress, costs and budgets throughout the project
- Advising the Management Team on project status and results in a timely fashion
- Resolving disputes between the Company and owner, or Company and subcontractors
- Identifying required and optional changes in project scope; negotiating COs with the owner
- Ensuring members of the project team understand and follow Modern Niagara's operating policies and practices
- Adhering to Modern Niagara's safety standards
- Developing and Ensuring quality control and commissioning plans are in place on all projects as required to meet the client's standards
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with all external parties including trades, clients, engineers, suppliers and subcontractors.
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
- 5-10 years' experience in the construction industry in a Project Management capacity, specifically on large projects in large commercial, industrial or institutional sector.
- Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, materials, negotiation, engineering, estimating, scheduling, finance, billing, accounting, and safety).
- Experience with a variety of project delivery methods, including design build and P3s
- Strong financial acumen and experience working with data and analytics.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance and build a strong team
