Position Title: Temporary Finance Assistant

Reports to: Manager, Finance

Job Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the On-Call Finance Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to Haisla Nations Finance team.

The Haisla Nation is the band government of the Haisla people. Our mission is to build a powerful, prosperous and proud community, healthy in mind, body and spirit. We believe in building a strong and thriving community, with healthy and happy members and a sustained and prosperous environment. We are about 2023+ people, with approximately 700 living in Kitamaat Village. We have lived off the land and waters of our traditional territory for thousands of years, and it remains the focus of all we do.

  • Filing
  • Data Entry
  • Assistance with improvement initiatives
  • Other Administrative Duties for the Finance Team

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school completion.
  • Experience working for a band government or Indigenous organization is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and various databases, search engines and Outlook/email.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with an attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to professionally connect with and influence a diverse group of individuals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Satisfactory completion of criminal records check (with vulnerable sector screening if relevant).

Salary Range: $22.95/hr - $28.35/hr

Position Type: Temporary Full-Time until June 30, 2026, with potential for extension.

Experience

Required

  • 1 - 3 years: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) with strong attention to detail and organization.

Preferred

  • Experience with band government or Indigenous organizations considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a Finance or accounting environment is an asset.
  • Administrative or data entry experience preferred.
