North Vancouver BC VH Z, Canada Parkgate Society Full time $50,000 - $80,000 per year

Are you service-oriented, community-focused, unflappable behind the wheel and would enjoy supporting seniors to get to the theatre on the weekends? If this sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.

We are looking for Casual Bus Drivers to accept a scheduled weekend shift contract over the coming months with the possibility of extra hours depending on availability during weekdays.

What you would do:

Be responsible for safely transporting senior community members to the theatre in Deep Cove on the weekends. You'd drive to and from outings and events, keep passengers safe and help us keep our programs running smoothly and on time.

Shifts will be approximately two (2) hours on the weekends, three (3) times per month. As a courtesy, the driver will also be welcome to watch the show and bring a guest

Specifically, we would need you to:

  • Drive safely, get people where they need to go and back again, in a timely and safe manner
  • Ensure vehicle logs (pre-trip inspection and mileage) are completed after each trip
  • Assist passengers in and out of the bus, but you're not responsible for their 1:1 care
  • Keep the bus tidy after your shift (basic sweep and tidy—no deep cleaning).
  • Report any maintenance or safety concerns

You're not expected to supervise programs or manage group behavior or deep-clean the vehicle.

We're hoping to meet people who:

  • Have driven similar-sized vehicles before and feel confident operating our buses. We have two (2) Ford Eldorado buses, each with a seat capacity of 24.
  • Are comfortable navigating traffic and routes across the North Shore.
  • Have worked with or in support of community members and understand the importance of connection, reliability, and patience.
  • Are great communicators and comfortable with technology i.e. email
  • Can be flexible with timing and picking up work ideally; we'll be clear about estimated hours for each shift (minimum of 2 hours).

Be really great if you could share with us:

  • What kind of driving experience do you have? Tell us about the vehicle types you've driven and how what work you have done in the past fits with this role with us.
  • If you have worked or volunteered in a community-serving environment before? What does "being in community" mean to you?
  • What is your availability and how many hours are you looking for?

Must have requirements:

  • Valid Class 4 Unrestricted Driver's License.
  • Clear Driver's Abstract and Copy of License.
  • Consent for a Criminal Record Check (CRC) with vulnerable persons.
  • 2–3 professional references.

Contract Details:

  • This is a part-time temporary contract position
  • Work would mainly be on the weekends
  • Hourly wage is $24.48 per hour, plus 6% in lieu of vacation time off.
  • Free parking and close to public transit.
  • Lots of opportunity to contribute and be part of our vibrant community.

To apply:

We'd love to hear about you and why you are interested in driving with us. Please send us your resume and a quck note to Holly, out Fleet Manager to introduce yourself. Her email is or you can phone her directly at
