Summary of Maintenance Technician Responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will coordinate and carry out routine, preventive, and emergency maintenance and repairs both inside and outside the hotel. Your goal is to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of hotel functions, optimizing performance and the economy of hotel operations.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
- Familiar and complies with the hotel's mission and standards in performing maintenance activities.
- Maximize maintenance team potential during tasks with a balanced focus on operations, guests, employee and owners satisfaction.
- Attends the daily morning meetings when the schedule permits.
- Follow the plan set out by the Lead Maintenance Technician in the Daily Handover.
- Submit a brief summary of the day's work to the Operations Manager
- Demonstrate effective time management with the maintenance tasks and special projects ensuring accurate completion.
- Respond to guest's maintenance needs promptly and ensure guests receive professional, efficient prompt and courteous service to hotel standards.
- Maintain the physical appearance and operational efficiency of the hotel including physical. mechanical, electrical, plumbing etc.
- Installation & maintenance of all equipment related to HVAC, DG Sets, Water treatment, Fire Safety etc. under guidance of the Operations Manager.
- Assist with record keeping relating to all plant and equipment for the hotel including repair and service records.
- Alert the Operations Manager of inadequate stock levels of materials, follow safety protocols to ensure materials, equipment and tools are kept in a clean and safe environment.
- Be aware and considerate of your surroundings and timing regarding the repair and maintenance tasks, fulfilling duties at times that do not disturb guests.
- Assist with building and grounds maintenance and ensures that the building and grounds are properly cared for and convey a pleasing appearance.
- Follows preventive maintenance schedules for building equipment and ensures that schedules are followed.
- Follows all health & safety procedures and inspections are followed according to applicable standards and regulations.
- Perform at a level that the Perfect Room Program is completed in accordance with hotel standards
- Understands and complies with all laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures applicable to his/her position.
- Maintain proper usage of tools and equipment in accordance to OHS and WCB Standards
- Common Area Walk throughs
- Demonstrates a team mentality/work ethic
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a maintenance position or in a position requiring some hard physical work and a high standard of guest/customer service
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
- Highly responsible & reliable
- Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
- Ability to work well unsupervised, at a fast pace while maintaining quality standards
- Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
- Impeccable grooming and presentation
- Fluent English language skills, both written and verbal
- Commitment to provide excellent service and exceed guests' expectations
- Must be available to work varying shifts, relevant to the needs of the hotel
Physical aspects of the position include but are not limited to the following:
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
- Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
- Must be physically capable of performing repetitive work
Job Type:
- Full-time hours
- Five 8-hour shifts weekly
- Seasonal, 6-month contract
- Winter Season of 2025/2026
