Position Type: Part-time/Contract

Salary: $30-$55/hour, based on experience

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Ice Hockey Goalie Coach to conduct on-ice training sessions with goalies of various skill levels in Ottawa. The ideal candidate will have experience as a goalie, ideally at the competitive level, and will focus on enhancing goaltending skills such as positioning, technique, and game performance. Video coaching may also be included as part of the training program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-ice training sessions focused on goaltending techniques, including positioning, puck control, save selection, and rebound management.
  • Analyze goaltender performance during practices and games, providing feedback and tailored development plans.
  • Optionally use video coaching to review and refine goalie techniques and decision-making.
  • Create an encouraging and motivating environment for goalies to develop confidence and skills.
  • Collaborate with other coaching staff as needed to integrate goalie-specific drills into team practices.

Requirements:

  • Experience as a goalie, ideally with competitive playing experience.
  • Prior coaching experience, particularly in goaltending, is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of goaltending techniques, drills, and game strategies.
  • Ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and adjust coaching methods to individual athletes.
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain a valid Police Check for the Vulnerable Sector.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) certification or equivalent coaching credentials.
  • Experience working with goalies at varying skill levels.

Additional Information:

  • Retained candidates will be required to provide character references.
  • This position focuses on on-ice training, with video coaching as a possible supplement.
