Job Description:

The AVP, Protect Platform – FinCrime Performance is a senior technology leader accountable for advancing and scaling TD's FinCrime Performance Capabilities to support advancement in threat prevention, detection & respond capabilities. Building upon our current stack, the leader will extend its reach across new threat domains including Fraud, Insider Threat, Physical Security, and Cyber, ensuring consistent, high-speed, and resilient data capabilities across North America.

This leader will drive platform evolution with a focus on speed, throughput, and quality – optimizing data ingress, egress, and availability to enable faster analytics, richer insights, and more proactive detection capabilities.

The role combines strategic architecture, operational leadership, and innovation excellence to ensure the platform continues to scale, perform, and deliver measurable value to the business.

The AVP will also champion a culture of Financial Crimes data and performance innovation, empowering engineers to experiment, learn, and deliver new ideas through proofs of concept, automation, and applied AI initiatives.

Finally, this leader will build and nurture the right talent and partner ecosystem - fostering a high-performing, empowered team while engaging strategic vendor and delivery partners to achieve shared outcomes. They will demonstrate fiscal discipline and sound commercial judgment, ensuring that investments in innovation, platforms, and partnerships deliver maximum value for TD.

Responsibilities:

  • Advance and scale our data platforms, expanding its use across multiple protect domains (Fraud, Insider, Physical Security, and Cyber) to enable enterprise-wide intelligence and reuse.
  • Engineer best-in-class data ingress, egress, and transformation pipelines, built for speed, throughput, and reusability across borders.
  • Increase the speed and quality of data ingestion while ensuring availability and accessibility for analytics, business insights, and operational use.
  • Deliver advanced analytics and AI-enablement capabilities, powering predictive modeling, real-time risk detection, and enterprise performance monitoring.
  • Decommission legacy platforms and simplify architecture, driving modernization, cost efficiency, and operational sustainability.
  • Engineer for resilience and stability, ensuring consistent uptime, quality, and operational excellence at enterprise scale.
  • Foster a culture of data and performance innovation, empowering engineer-led initiatives, open knowledge sharing, and collaborative experimentation.
  • Integrate automation and continuous delivery practices to accelerate deployment velocity and reduce friction in production workflows.
  • Build and lead a diverse, high-performing technology team, cultivating top engineering talent and fostering a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning.
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with vendors and delivery partners to ensure scalability, flexibility, and sustained value delivery.
  • Ensure fiscal responsibility and commercial balance, making sound investment decisions that maximize platform performance and return on spend for TD.
  • Champion speed with accountability, ensuring that innovation and performance are balanced with safety, compliance, and long-term resilience.

Experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • 10+ years technology experience with additional 5+ years experience in FinCrime
  • Strong analytical skills and experience working with data and technology-driven solutions for risk management
  • Excellent communication, leadership skills
  • Strong relationship management skills, conflict resolution, ability to prioritize competing priorities and in-depth program management
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and matrix banking environment
  • The candidate must excel in stakeholder engagement, resource management, and financial management.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with proven leadership abilities to guide and motivate teams.
