Location: Canada (Hybrid/Remote depending on client requirements)

Clearance: Must meet eligibility requirements for Government of Canada Protected B clearance (minimum 5 years continuous residency in Canada)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Azure Cloud Architect to lead the design, strategy, implementation, and optimization of secure, scalable cloud solutions across Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in cloud architecture, DevOps practices, security frameworks, and enterprise-grade solution delivery. This role supports both public-sector and private-sector clients, including projects requiring Protected B clearance.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Architecture & Design

• Lead end-to-end architectural design of Azure cloud environments, including landing zones, multi-tenant architectures, network topologies, and identity frameworks.
• Design highly scalable, secure, and resilient cloud platforms aligned with Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and best practices.
• Architect hybrid and multi-cloud solutions integrating on-premises datacenters, Azure services, and third-party technologies.

Security, Governance & Compliance

• Implement cloud governance, RBAC, data-protection controls, policy enforcement, tagging standards, and logging/monitoring frameworks.
• Ensure designs meet Government of Canada Protected B security requirements, CIS benchmarks, NIST 800-53, and Zero Trust principles.
• Enable secure enterprise identity and access architectures using Azure AD/Entra ID, Conditional Access, and privileged access management.

DevOps & Automation

• Develop automated CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, ARM/Bicep/Terraform, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC).
• Automate provisioning, configuration, testing, and lifecycle management of cloud workloads.

Solution Delivery & Leadership

• Serve as technical lead for cloud transformations, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
• Conduct cloud readiness assessments and build migration roadmaps.
• Mentor and advise engineering teams, ensuring high-quality execution and alignment with architectural standards.

Operations & Optimization

• Oversee Azure cost optimization, monitoring, scaling, and workload performance tuning.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud and hybrid system issues.
• Establish operational best practices and ongoing cloud improvement frameworks.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 10+ years in IT, with 5+ years in Azure cloud architecture roles.
• Must have lived in Canada for at least 5 consecutive years and meet eligibility requirements for Protected B security clearance.
• Expert-level understanding of:
• Azure IaaS, PaaS, serverless architectures
• Azure Networking (VNETs, ExpressRoute, Load Balancers, Traffic Manager)
• Azure AD/Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, identity lifecycle
• Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Sentinel SIEM
• Cloud security, governance, and Zero Trust
• Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM)
• Azure DevOps & GitHub integration
• Experience leading enterprise cloud migrations and modernization projects.
• Strong knowledge of government or public-sector security controls (GC Cloud Guardrails, ITSG-33, PBMM).
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer / Cybersecurity Architect
• Experience with hybrid cloud (Azure Stack, on-prem Windows/Linux)
• Experience with security assessments, compliance, and regulated industries
• Experience supporting or working with Government of Canada departments

Job Type: Fixed term contract

Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $80.00-$110.00 per hour
