BA – REPORTING & ANALYSIS BACKGROUND

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Analyst to elevate our Reporting & Analysis space. This role is crucial for enabling our Product Owners to focus on strategic initiatives by leading data documentation, lineage, advanced data operations, and directly supporting the product development lifecycle through precise story writing and requirements gathering. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and optimization of our data assets, while also bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Product Development & Requirements Management:

• Collaborate closely with Product Owners to understand business needs and translate them into clear, concise, and actionable user stories, epics, and acceptance criteria.

• Lead and facilitate requirements gathering sessions, workshops, and interviews with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document functional and non-functional requirements.

• Prioritize and manage a backlog of requirements and user stories, ensuring alignment with product strategy and business objectives.

• Support the development team throughout the agile sprint cycles, providing clarification on requirements and ensuring solutions meet defined criteria.

• Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:

• Bridge Business & Tech: Act as a crucial intermediary between business stakeholders, Product Owners, and technical teams, effectively translating complex business requirements into clear technical specifications and vice-versa.

• Facilitate Collaboration: Lead workshops and meetings to effectively gather requirements, validate data definitions, and ensure shared understanding among teams.

• Translate Complexities: Communicate intricate data concepts and analytical findings in a clear, concise, and understandable manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Data Governance Documentation:

• Standardize Data Definitions: Create and maintain comprehensive Data Dictionaries and Business Glossaries to ensure consistent understanding and usage of all data elements across reports, dashboards, and data feeds.

• Trace Data Origins: Partner with data modeler to document end-to-end data lineage, meticulously mapping how information flows from its original source systems to its final presentation in reports and dashboards.

• Architect Data Clarity & Efficiency: Develop and manage detailed UML diagrams that visually articulate data structures, the precise flow of information, and the underlying calculation logic. Critically, leverage these diagrams to identify and propose strategies for optimizing data footprint (storage), enhancing data governance, and centralizing calculations to eliminate redundant efforts.

• Ensure Data Alignment: Collaborate closely with technical and business teams to validate and align data definitions and lineage, ensuring accuracy and consistency across the organization.

• Data Operations & Optimization:

• Understand Data Consumption: Analyze and document current data feed consumers and their specific requirements to ensure data delivery meets business needs.

• Streamline Data Delivery: Optimize and rationalize data feed execution schedules to boost operational efficiency and prevent resource bottlenecks.

• Enhance Data Flow: Identify and implement strategic improvements in data feed orchestration, utilizing automation and industry best practices to refine data flow and delivery mechanisms.

• Monitor Data Integrity: Continuously monitor data ingestion processes to guarantee timely and accurate data feed delivery, promptly investigating and resolving any discrepancies with data owners and technical teams.

• Ensure Data Quality: Proactively safeguard the quality and integrity of data across all diverse data sources and reporting outputs.

• Data Analysis & Reporting:

• Provide Timely Insights: Conduct ad-hoc data analysis to address immediate business inquiries, resolve data-related issues, and deliver actionable insights to Product Owners and other stakeholders.

• Develop Performance Metrics: Create and generate both routine and customized reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and monitor data quality trends.

• Validate New Solutions: Rigorously validate and test newly developed reporting solutions, dashboards, and data feeds to ensure their accuracy and integrity before deployment.

• Process Improvement & Best Practices:

• Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement ongoing process enhancements in data documentation, governance, reporting, and operations.

• Champion Best Practices: Promote the adoption and institutionalization of industry best practices for data management, quality assurance standards, and advanced analytical methodologies within the Reporting & Analysis domain.

Qualifications

Required Skills & Experience:

• Educational Foundation: Bachelor's degree in information systems, Data Science, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative field.

• Professional Tenure: Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in a Business Analyst role, with a strong focus on data management, reporting, and requirements elicitation.

• Agile Methodologies: Proven experience in an Agile environment, working directly with Product Owners to define and refine user stories, acceptance criteria, and product backlog items.

• Documentation Expertise: Proven track record in developing and maintaining robust data dictionaries, business glossaries, and comprehensive data lineage documentation.

• Advanced Data Modeling: Strong proficiency in UML or analogous data modeling techniques, with the ability to visually represent data flow, detailed calculation logic, and formulate data optimization strategies for storage, governance, and calculation centralization.

• SQL Mastery: SQL skills essential for efficient data querying, extraction, and in-depth analysis.

• Visualization Tools: Hands-on experience with leading data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, QlikView) for creating impactful dashboards and reports.

• Analytical Acumen: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities.

• Communication Prowess: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to articulate complex data concepts and business requirements clearly.

• Detail-Oriented & Quality-Driven: Meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to data accuracy and quality.
