Architectural Manager

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced
Architectural Department Manager
to lead the design and delivery of industrial facilities — including factories, warehouses, processing plants, storage buildings, and logistics centres — primarily within the
food and beverage industry
.

In this key leadership position, you'll oversee architectural design projects from concept to completion, ensuring that each facility is
functional, regulation-compliant
, and meets
client and operational objectives
.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution

• Plan, schedule, and execute design projects from concept to completion.
• Ensure designs meet customer requirements and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare project proposals and manage design changes with robust document control.
• Oversee permitting and approval processes across all project phases.

Problem Solving & Decision Making

• Resolve complex design challenges and make informed decisions on materials, structures, and layouts.
• Optimise designs for functionality, compliance, budget, and timeline.

Collaboration & Integration

• Work closely with engineers, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
• Ensure seamless integration between architectural, structural, and mechanical systems.

Leadership & Mentorship

• Lead and mentor a team of technologists.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and professional growth.

Process Improvement & Innovation

• Continuously enhance design processes and efficiency.
• Promote sustainable design practices and stay ahead of emerging trends in industrial architecture.

Client Engagement

• Liaise directly with clients to understand needs, present proposals, and incorporate feedback.
• Maintain strong, positive relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture.
• Licensed member in good standing with the
  Ontario Association of Architects (OAA)
  .
• Proficiency in
  AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp
  , and
  Adobe Creative Suite
  (BIM familiarity preferred).
• Experience with
  3D visualisation tools
  (e.g., Lumion) considered an asset.
• Strong understanding of
  Ontario Building Code/National Building Code
  ,
  Zoning/Municipal Bylaws
  , and
  Accessibility Standards
  .
• Solid knowledge of building materials, construction methods, and specifications.
• Experience with
  governmental agencies
  , building codes, and zoning processes.
• Additional certifications such as
  LEED accreditation
  ,
  AIA membership
  , or
  specialised training
  in industrial design are advantageous.
• Familiarity with
  parametric design
  ,
  smart building systems
  , or
  robotics in construction
  is a plus.
• Strong ability to produce detailed
  working drawings
  and
  construction documentation
  .

Experience

• Minimum
  5 years' experience
  in architectural design, with proven success managing projects and client relationships.
• Experience designing
  industrial/manufacturing or logistics facilities
  is highly desirable.
