Summerhill Market isn't your typical grocery store. We're a Toronto boutique grocer known for scratch-made prepared foods, freshly baked treats, and on-trend ingredients that food lovers can't get enough of. Our Rosedale location is home to a busy Deli Production operation responsible for crafting premium cheese products, deli items, and specialty charcuterie offerings enjoyed across all our stores.

Now we're looking for an experienced, hands-on Deli Production Team Lead to oversee daily production, manage ordering and inventory, and support a small team while working directly in cutting, wrapping, slicing, packaging, and merchandising high-quality deli and cheese products.

What you'll do

• Oversee day-to-day Deli Production operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and strong teamwork
• Perform hands-on production, including:

– 60% cheese production (cutting, portioning, wrapping, labeling)

– 40% deli packaging (grab-and-go items, prepared meats, specialty products)

• Support deli slicing of meats and cheeses as needed
• Assemble high-quality charcuterie boards and specialty trays
• Manage inventory, rotation, counts, and product freshness
• Place orders for cheese, deli items, packaging, and specialty ingredients
• Train, mentor, and guide team members in production techniques, food safety, and quality standards
• Assign daily tasks and monitor workflow to meet deadlines
• Ensure proper labeling, dating, storing, and rotation of all products
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment
• Uphold food safety, sanitation, health, and knife safety standards
• Collaborate with Store Management and the main Deli Department on seasonal offerings and merchandising
• Assist customers with product questions when approached
• Support onboarding and skill development for new staff
• Communicate production updates and operational needs to leadership

What we're looking for

• 2–3 years of deli, cheese, kitchen prep, or grocery production experience
• Experience cutting and wrapping cheese; knowledge of cheese varieties is an asset
• Strong knife skills and safe handling experience
• Supervisory or team lead experience preferred
• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines
• Strong communication skills and leadership presence
• Able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for long periods

All entry-level retail and kitchen roles begin at minimum wage ($17.60/hr). Pay is negotiable based on experience.
