Our team values collaboration, mentorship, and continuous improvement. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Fire Protection Specialist to join our dynamic team in either Fredericton, NB or Halifax, NS.

As a Fire Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for applying fire protection codes and standards to a variety of commercial and industrial projects. You'll work closely with engineers, project managers, and clients to deliver effective and innovative fire protection solutions.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Working both individually and as part of a team to provide support for our firm's fire protection engineering consulting services.
  • Drafting and drawing management.
  • Fire code consulting.
  • Shop drawing reviews, construction reviews (occasional travel will be required), inspections, and integrated system testing.
  • The application of various NFPA and CAN/ULC standards in the development of design drawings and specifications for fire protection and life safety systems such as sprinkler and standpipe, fire pumps and water supply infrastructure, fire alarm systems, etc.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • A technical post-secondary education with current eligibility for registration as either:
    • A PTech/CET/CTech with Canadian Provincial professional technologist associations, or
    • A P.Eng. with Canadian Provincial professional engineering associations.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in the construction or engineering consulting industries with experience with fire protection systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities to effectively convey technical information and collaborate with project stakeholders;
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, maintain attention to detail, with the ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented environment; and
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for contributing to a positive team environment.

In addition to the prerequisites outlined above, experience with or exposure to any of the following would be considered an asset:

  • Previous project management experience;
  • Formal drawing standards for quality control;
  • BIM modelling platforms (REVIT or similar);
  • Familiarity with or exposure any of the following codes and standards:
    • National Building Code of Canada
    • National Fire Code of Canada
    • CAN/ULC-S524; CAN/ULC-S561; CAN/ULC-S1001
    • NFPA 13, NFPA 14; NFPA 20
