Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.

Position Overview

Make a real impact in your community. We're looking for a compassionate and dynamic Community Counsellor to provide one-on-one and group support for parents of young children. If you're passionate about helping families develop skills, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals, this is your chance to join a program dedicated to empowering parents and strengthening communities.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will conduct client assessments to identify service needs and support skill development through personalized planning and goal-setting. They will provide regular in-home and telephone support, facilitate educational and networking groups, and manage client recruitment and program organization. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, participating in meetings, adhering to policies and safety protocols, and continuously evaluating program effectiveness. The counsellor will foster positive relationships with clients, staff, and community professionals while actively collaborating with other support workers and stakeholders to ensure comprehensive client care.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with knowledge of early childhood development (ages 0–6). They have experience working both one-on-one and with groups, and possess a current Level I First Aid certificate.

Given the outreach nature of the role, the candidate is a self-starter with strong time management and organizational skills. They work well independently and collaboratively, hold a valid B.C. driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle, and bring a solution-focused mindset. They are skilled in developing program materials, managing multiple priorities, and maintaining confidentiality. They also demonstrate strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, approaching their work with a respectful, non-judgmental, and empowering attitude.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
