UI/UX + Front-End Developer

We are looking for a hybrid UI/UX + Front-End Developer who can design beautiful, user-centric interfaces and implement them with clean, performant code. This role merges creative design skills with strong front-end development expertise—ideal for someone who can take features from concept → wireframe → UI design → front-end implementation.
You will design in Figma, build in Liquid/React/JS, and integrate with Shopify GraphQL APIs and Algolia search to create high-quality, conversion-optimized eCommerce experiences.Key Responsibilities
1. UX Strategy & UI Design
- Own end-to-end UX design for new features and improvements across the Shopify storefront.
- Create UX flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI using Figma.
- Define and maintain a consistent design system and component library.
- Conduct usability testing, heuristic reviews, and data-driven UX refinements.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into user-friendly experiences.
2. Front-End Development
- Implement UI designs as pixel-perfect, responsive pages and components.
- Develop Shopify Liquid templates, sections, and theme extensions.
- Build dynamic experiences using JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks.
- Implement clean, reusable, maintainable code aligned with best practices.
- Work closely with backend/Shopify developers to ensure UX and data alignment.
3. Shopify & GraphQL Integration
- Integrate and consume Shopify Storefront API and Admin API using GraphQL.
- Work with backend teams to define API requirements for front-end/UI features.
- Implement efficient data-fetching strategies and caching to improve performance.
- Troubleshoot API-related UI issues and ensure a seamless user experience.
4. Algolia Search & Discovery UX
- Design and build Algolia-powered:
- InstantSearch results
- Autocomplete/predictive search
- Faceted filtering
- Product discovery workflows
- Improve relevance and conversion through iterative UX enhancements.
- Collaborate with data teams to optimize indexing and search experience.
5. Performance, Accessibility & Optimization
- Ensure high performance across mobile and desktop.
- Optimize for Core Web Vitals, accessibility (WCAG), and SEO best practices.
- Employ best practices in lazy loading, script optimization, and image handling.
- Use analytics tools (GA4, Hotjar, Shopify analytics) to guide UX improvements.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with product managers, marketing, development, and leadership to plan and deliver features.
- Participate in sprint planning, UX reviews, and QA cycles.
- Provide clear documentation for designs, components, and front-end logic.
Required Skills & Experience
Design Skills
- Strong portfolio showcasing UI/UX work for websites or apps.
- Expert proficiency in Figma (components, auto-layout, prototyping).
- Deep understanding of UX principles, user psychology, and eCommerce best practices.
- Ability to conduct user research, testing, and iterative design.
Front-End Development Skills
- 3–6+ years of experience with front-end development.
- Strong proficiency in:
- JavaScript (ES6+)
- HTML5/CSS3
- Responsive design
- Liquid (Shopify)
- Experience with modern frameworks (React, Vue, or similar).
- Comfortable implementing API-driven UI with GraphQL.
- Strong grasp of accessibility and SEO-friendly development.
Shopify & Search Tools
- Experience with Shopify theme development and customization.
- Familiarity with Shopify's Storefront API, Admin API, and GraphQL object models.
- Hands-on experience with Algolia InstantSearch & Autocomplete.
Soft Skills
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to take ownership of features from concept to deployment.
- Excellent attention to detail and design consistency.
- Self-driven, organized, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Shopify Hydrogen/Oxygen (headless storefronts).
- TypeScript experience.
- Familiarity with Tailwind CSS.
- Understanding of CRO, A/B testing, and eCommerce analytics.
- Motion UI/animation skills (Lottie, Framer Motion, Figma prototypes).
