Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional looking to make an impact in Ontario's construction and infrastructure sector?

The Accounting Manager oversees daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strong internal controls. Working closely with the Controller, this role manages invoicing, payments and cash flow, supports budget and audit processes, and provides financial insights to leadership. The Manager will also maintain strong internal controls while ensuring compliance with company policies and financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the association's general ledger, accounts payables and accounts receivables
  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing, collections, and payment processing
  • Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions on a regular basis
  • Review, reconcile and process vendor invoices, expense reports, and payment runs
  • Maintain vendor and member records
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and implement effective collection strategies to minimize past-due accounts
  • Maintain project accounting for events – including reconciliations of all components
  • Prepare and analyze AR/AP reports for management, highlighting trends and variances
  • Collaborate with the Controller to support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and accruals
  • Monitor cash flow to support financial and operational needs
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and financial regulations
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices
  • Support audits by preparing reports, providing documentation, and addressing inquiries
  • Communicate with external parties such as bankers and auditors.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in an accounting or finance role
  • Experience within an association environment preferred
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
  • Proficiency in using accounting software (Sage preferred)
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
  • Solid understanding of Excel for data analysis and reporting
  • Effective communication skills to interact with team members and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying discrepancies and resolving issues
  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information

The successful candidate will work four-days per week at OSSGA's offices at 365 Brunel Rd., in Mississauga, and remotely on Friday.
