Role Description

Core Responsibilities

Parcel Processing and Handling

  • Oversee the sorting, scanning, and routing of parcels.
  • Ensure timely loading and unloading of delivery vehicles through driver supervisors.
  • Implement systems for quick identification and minimal handling time.

Inventory and Package Tracking

  • Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing packages.
  • Monitor undelivered or misrouted parcels and take corrective action.

Staff Management

  • Supervise delivery/warehouse supervisors and associates, loaders, and sorters.
  • Schedule shifts to cover peak delivery times (e.g., mornings, evenings).
  • Train staff on safety, speed, and accuracy protocols.

Coordination with Dispatch and Drivers

  • Ensure packages are ready for drivers on time.
  • Oversee communication about changes in routes, delays, or package issues to the dispatch team.

Operational Efficiency

  • Help optimizing sorting systems and conveyor layouts for high-volume processing.
  • Implement warehouse management systems (WMS) tailored to courier needs.
  • Track performance KPIs such as delivery readiness time, sorting errors, and throughput rates.

Safety and Compliance

  • Enforce safety procedures during fast-paced loading/unloading operations.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation and shipping regulations.
  • Maintain a secure environment to prevent loss, theft, or damage.

Customer Service and Problem Resolution

  • Investigate customer complaints related to damaged or missing packages.
  • Coordinate with customer service to provide timely updates on parcel status.
  • Implement corrective actions to reduce recurring issues.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Operations Management.
  • Forklift Operation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in the logistics or transportation industry is a plus.
  • Certification in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
