KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overall senior level management of IoT solutions and optimization programs which support the full lifecycle of Blackstone's EaaS (Energy as a service) projects from study phase through to project implementation, optimization, and ongoing maintenance programs.
Lead the planning and implementation of the blackPAC StudyPAC platform, to enable benefit, data acquisition and energy and operational optimization strategies for stakeholder use cases and requirements. Lead reports, both directly and indirectly, to achieve overall team success and goals.
Support Optimization, FDD and Automated Commissioning measures with the goal of ensuring optimal performance and continuous improvement in both functionality and energy savings.
Work collaboratively with Building Performance, Clean Infrastructure, Maintenance and IoT teams to provide the highest quality energy, carbon and comfort performance outcomes for our clients' projects, programs and services that Blackstone provides.
Support existing building commissioning (EBCx) programs, ensuring compliance with IESO incentive structures through automated commissioning solutions. Analyze client O&M practices, present efficiency recommendations and maintain performance KPIs which ensure contractual obligations and client satisfaction. Strong stakeholder collaboration is essential, with the role of facilitating communication across departments and clients to ensure successful project execution and continuous improvement.
OTHER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operations and Maintenance:
- Support Blackstone Energy Engineers to capture, analyze, recommend and record improvements and benefits that can be achieved through blackPAC services within our EaaS, MESA and Single technology projects.
- Organize, and manage resources to fulfill IoT blackPAC energy and operational activities for EaaS and clean infrastructure technologies.
- Develop, implement and manage blackPAC SaaS performance objectives and outcomes through automated analytical tools, FDD and CCMS to achieve optimal energy, maximum carbon reduction and comfort performance at all contracted Blackstone client sites.
- Accountable for monitoring performance and applying corrective actions to achieve and exceed performance goals and targets in a commercially viable manner.
- blackPAC and StudyPAC Management:
- Plan, implement and commission blackPAC StudyPAC at client sites in collaboration with other departments.
- Ensure each StudyPAC solution meets respective stakeholder requirements and outcomes.
- Support all phases of EaaS and clean infrastructure development to acquire data necessary to deliver use cases for respective stakeholders though the blackPAC platform.
- Energy Solution Development:
- Collaborate with departmental teams to develop and implement EaaS and clean infrastructure solutions to enable best practices and services for O&M, Fault Detection, Machine Learning Optimization and Measurement and Verification performance infrastructure capabilities.
- Provide support to teams in implementing optimization strategies which enhance the efficiency of HVAC, BAS, and renewable energy solutions.
- Conduct performance analysis and recommend improvements for clean infrastructure Operational Performance Management (OPM) outcomes for all projects and programs through a collaborative lesson learned process.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and applicable codes.
- EBCX Programs:
- Oversee EBCX program planning, implementation and reporting of findings per IESO incentive programs by developing an ACx automated commissioning solution that is IESO EBCx grant compliant
- Ensure programs meet client requirements, progress to the Implementation Phase, and deliver Persistence/Performance Phase benefits and improvements.
- Provide technical support and leadership through all phases.
- Client O&M Analysis:
- Analyze client O&M practices and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Present findings and suggestions to department stakeholders and ultimately clients.
- Maintain all KPIs and provide regular performance reports to ensure customer satisfaction and contractual requirements are met
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Facilitate communication and cooperation among stakeholders.
- Ensure client satisfaction through effective project, program and department management.
Additional Duties:
- Support interdepartmental, interdivisional, and intercompany goals, directives, and initiatives as endorsed by the Corporation. Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Engineering Certificate or Diploma, Energy Management,
- HVAC Trade License or related field credentials.
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience supporting and managing BAS, Energy retrofit and decarbonization projects, and experience with building optimization solutions preferred.
- Experience managing a team toward common goals, targets and objectives.
- Experience with large-scale energy projects, building automation, Mechanical and Electrical project delivery and programs.
- Proven track record in ESCo-style energy/carbon reduction projects with guaranteed outcomes
- Familiarity with building HVAC retro-commissioning or recommissioning programs.
- Skills:
- Deep understanding of EaaS, Energy Optimization and Clean Infrastructure Technologies.
- Proficient in data analysis and project management.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong Project management and collaboration skills.
- Analytical skills in analyzing energy performance and identifying optimization opportunities.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to address complex technical challenges.
- Certifications:
- Preferred: P.Eng, CEM, CBCP, PMP, and or trade license.
