Position Summary

Laboratory Technician , Histopathology

Performs laboratory procedures in accordance with departmental and divisional policies. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

  • Assist pathologists and pathologists' assistant at gross bench.
  • Set up and clean equipment.
  • Stain and coverslip.
  • Change reagents and maintain supplies.
  • Perform accessioning, sorting, filing and organizing histopathology specimens.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of Laboratory Technician program.
  • MLPAO certification.
  • Experience in histology laboratory is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral English.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload, flexible to schedule changes.
  • Bilingualism in French/English is an asset
