Do you have strong organizational skills and an interest in supporting meaningful national programs for youth? Join the Forum for Young Canadians team as a Logistics Assistant and help ensure a smooth, impactful experience for participants from across the country.
The , organized and run by the , is dedicated to educating, equipping, and inspiring young Canadians to engage meaningfully in civic life. Over three weeks in February and March 2026, the Forum will host its National Summit in Ottawa, welcoming over 300 students over three weeks students aged 15-18 per week) for an immersive, hands-on experience like no other.
The at Toronto Metropolitan University is working with the Rideau Hall Foundation to coordinate daytime logistics and ensure the smooth delivery of all program operations during the Forum for Young Canadians National Summit.
Job Role
The Logistics Assistants play a vital role in ensuring all program elements run smoothly by coordinating daytime activities and managing logistical needs to maintain a seamless, organized environment that enables participants to fully engage in the program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting registration processes, greeting participants upon arrival, ensuring materials are prepared, and efficiently checking them in.
- Coordinating meeting spaces to ensure they are set up and ready for each activity.
- Helping arrange transportation for participants and staff, ensuring smooth travel to and from venues.
- Supporting accommodation arrangements for participants, staff, and speakers.
- Assisting with catering, ensuring that meals and snacks are delivered on time and according to dietary needs. This includes confirming delivery times, checking food quality, and ensuring that food stations are replenished throughout the day.
- Helping coordinate speaker logistics, ensuring greeting speakers and making sure they have everything they need for their sessions.
- Providing general logistical support during the event, including troubleshooting issues as they arise and helping wherever needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age: 24 years.
- Valid police record check, interview, and reference checks are required.
- Prior experience in event coordination, logistics, or operations.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Problem-solving skills to address challenges proactively and efficiently.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with team members, participants, and vendors.
- A proactive and adaptable attitude, with a willingness to jump in and assist wherever needed.
- Bilingual English/French (preferred but not essential).
Compensation:
$1,175 per week, amounting to $3,525 total for the three weeks
- 43 per week for 3 weeks, plus 8 hours of mandatory training.
- Breakfast and lunch will be provided during scheduled shifts.
When You'll Need To Be Available:
We are seeking Morning Monitors who can commit to the training day and to all three sessions:
Training Day: Saturday, February 7 (time tbd)
Session 1: Sunday, February 8 - Friday, February 13, 2026
Session 2: Sunday, March 8 - Friday, March 13, 2026
Session 3: Sunday, March 22 - Friday, March 27, 2026
Training:
- 3 hours for online safeguarding training prior to Forum
- 5 hours of in person training on Saturday, February 7th
Hours:
43 hours per week. Logistics Assistant responsibilities start each week on Sunday at 12:00 PM and end on Friday at 3:00 PM. Shifts are primarily daytime and may vary slightly based on program needs or special events.
