ABOUT THE ROLE
Designed to accommodate a resident population with complex dementia care needs, Bethany Riverview approaches our residents with an open mind and heart, focused on enhancing the quality of life for those in our care. As a Maintenance Worker 1 at Bethany Riverview, you provide client-focused service to individuals in a home-like setting.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Individual responsibilities will fall under five main areas of focus:
- Resident Centered Care: Promotes service excellence through support of the Interdisciplinary Team to achieve and maintain quality resident centered care within the scope of the Maintenance department.
- Documentation: Accurate, comprehensive and timely documentation of maintenance work completed in alignment with Bethany policies and procedures.
- Safety: Contributes to a safe environment for residents, the team and self by understanding and adhering to safety guidelines and practices at all times.
- Pro-active Learner: Demonstrates the vision and values of Bethany and lives out the mission of Creating Caring Communities.
- Team Work: Cares for and works cooperatively with others as an effective team member
WHAT YOU BRING
The ideal candidate will have:
- Grade 12 education or recognized equivalent
- 1 year maintenance experience, preferably in a hospital or large facility
- Able to work in a physically and mentally demanding environment
- Must demonstrate an acceptable level of reading, writing and comprehension of English language
- Valid Class 5 drivers' license
- Knowledge of blueprint and specifications reading and interpretation
- Proven ability to organize and prioritize various demands
- Must have strong working knowledge of fire codes, building codes and general safety regulations
- Ability to operate hand and power tools
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs of unit equipment, such as beds, mechanical lifts, etc.
- Basic knowledge of minor plumbing repairs, such as sinks, toilets, etc.
- Ability to perform minor cosmetic repairs such as wall patching, painting, etc.
