Comec is looking for Millwrights to join our maintenance team. The individual should be Committed and possess considerable drive to learn, adapt, excel in the work place.
The Millwright is responsible for installing or dismantling machinery and equipment according to company plans, blueprints, and other diagrams. This will be accomplished through the safe and effective use of hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools. This position also requires that the Millwright troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, or pneumatic problems with associated equipment. The Millwright is also responsible for repairing malfunctioning equipment, such as motors, pumps, valves, controls, for a variety of commodities, and other machines.
This is at the Foster Creek SAGD plant site, shift is 7 on 7 off. 12-hour days. 80RT 4 OT per shift. OT eligible. Long tern/permanent position. Benefits after 3 months, RSP program, Competitive rates. Camp work, or bussing available. Flights may be available for the right candidate within Alberta.
Must possess the following safety tickets. (Or willing to go get before starting on site)- H2S alive, First Aid, CSTS 2020, WHIMS, Fall Arrest. Gas testing/Nitrogen Safety. Additionally confined space, certified rigging courses, industry training or equipment training is an asset.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and always acting in a safe manner.
- Ensure customer and client satisfaction by following all client regulations/rules and always providing excellent customer service.
- Complete and maintain all required paperwork and documentation properly within set timelines; this includes accurate maintenance reports and documentation, work tickets, JSA's, hazard IDs and daily time sheets.
- Follow all local, provincial, and federal compliance regulations and rules, follow company policies and procedures for routine maintenance, perform general housekeeping to ensure units are operating properly and report any inefficiency.
- Demonstrate a commitment to environmental compliance and safe work procedures.
- Inspect machinery as it arrives, unload the parts, and then assemble them with the safe and effective use of hand and power tools.
- Relocate unassembled equipment as it arrives, positioning the machinery and pieces that need to be assembled, using hoists, dollies, and trucks.
- Interpret blueprints and schematics to determine work procedures.
- Where necessary, assist with the construction a foundation for new equipment, using building materials, such as wood, cement, and steel.
- Align machines and equipment during installation, using hoists, jacks, squares, ruler, micrometers.
- Use a lathe to grind, file, and turn machine parts to match the appropriate specifications.
- Assemble all machinery and equipment by bolting, welding, riveting, or fastening them to pre-built foundations.
- Adhere to assembly and installation instructions set forth in vendor manuals and specifications.
- Repair any problems associated with new equipment.
- Fabricate new machine parts if original parts are missing or damaged.
- Identify and correct any problems found in machines, equipment, or processes in order to facilitate production.
- Leads apprentices and directs them to ensure successful task completion.
- Ensure that safety policies, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed.
- Perform preventative maintenance once the machines and equipment are put into operation.
- Able to learn and participate in the date entry and maintenance records for the equipment through the client-based work order system.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class 5 Operator's License.
- Journey Certified Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) recognized in Alberta.
- Demonstrated aptitude in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good, positive attitude, with the ability to accept last minute changes to schedule.
- Indoor and outdoor work. Work outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Ability to work shift work (days/nights) as needed.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with a minimum of supervision, be highly motivated, energetic, and enjoy working as part of a team.
- Due to hazards associated with the position this position is safety sensitive and subject to drug & alcohol testing; this includes pre access, post incident, reasonable cause

- Safety Certification
- H2S Alive, 1st Aid, TDG, WHMIS mandatory
- Confined Space, CSO, CSTS, Fall Protection maybe required

- Working conditions:
- Able and willing to work long hours
- Able and willing to work alone
- Able and willing to work outside in the extreme cold or extreme hot conditions with PPE on. Adaptable to Northern Alberta weather.
- Ability to regularly handle and lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to pass a medical fit for work exam
- Ability to pass a pre-access Drug & Alcohol test
