A Day in the LifeThe Field Service Representative is responsible for performing on-site installation, upgrades, calibration and configuration, as well as preventive maintenance and repairs as per Medtronic SOP's and manuals.This role will support our Cardiovascular business.
MAIN JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (may include the following and other duties may be assigned):
•Installs, operates, maintains, repairs and modifies equipment.
•Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations.
•Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance.
•Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problem in minimum time.
•Installs, upgrades and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change.
•Maintains effective customer communications and relations.
•May provide onsite training of customer support personnel.
•Responsible for reporting complaints and Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR)
•Responsible to understand and follow corporate and functional business unit procedures as well as technical guidance documents
•Produce timely and detailed service reports
•Manage company assets including spare parts inventory, test equipment, computers and vehicle
•Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions
•Maintain timely communications via e-mail and voicemail with customers, sales, support personnel.
•Provide after-hours service/support, where required
CAREER STREAM:
Provides technical support in areas such as production, operations, maintenance, safety, testing, process improvement or product development. Uses schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions or defined plans to perform testing and troubleshooting on electronic or mechanical components, equipment or systems. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data using established formulae and procedures, and performs detailed mathematical calculations. For higher levels, may suggest and/or make improvements to optimize work processes.
DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS:
Autonomy: Seasoned individual contributor, working under limited supervision, and providing assistance and training to lower level employees. Runs minor projects, including performing tests, interpreting data, developing reports.
Organizational Impact: Performs technical activities requiring considerable judgment and may have ownership of minor projects. Work consists of technical tasks that are typically not routine.
Innovation and Complexity: Technical problems faced are general, and may require some analysis to understand and resolve. Expected to independently propose solutions to problems for supervisor review.
Communication and Influence: Communicates typically with internal contacts. Obtains and provides technical information on matters of moderate importance to the job area.
Leadership and Talent Management: Responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Requires high school diploma, vocational or technical education or certification.

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION
• Minimum of 1-year field service experience in maintenance and repair of complex electronic or biomedical equipment
• Minimum of Associate Degree required in Electronics, Biomedical Electronics Technology, or certificate from accredited electronics school or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Technical degree in electronics or biomedical electronics, computers, or related field
JOB EXPERIENCE
•Medical Device product knowledge.
•Work experience within hospital operating rooms.
•General knowledge of electrical and mechanical concepts.
•Demonstrated ability to utilize computer and telephone efficiently
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
•Excellent organizational and time management skills.
•Complex Problem solver.
•Self-directed.
•Proficient skills in Microsoft OS, Word/Excel.
•Customer and Quality focus
•Some physical lifting required
