Job Summary:

Pigeon Cafe & Bar is seeking a personable, energetic, and skilled Bartender to provide an outstanding guest experience at our bar. As a key part of the front-of-house team, the Bartender is responsible for crafting high-quality beverages, engaging with customers, and maintaining a clean and organized bar area. The ideal candidate is professional, knowledgeable about mixology and bar operations, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with recipes, portion guidelines, and customer preferences.
  • Greet guests in a friendly, approachable manner and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Accurately take drink and food orders, enter them into the POS system, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized bar area throughout shift.
  • Monitor alcohol consumption and assess customer behavior to prevent over-serving.
  • Handle cash and card transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Restock bar inventory and supplies, including garnishes, liquor, beer, wine, and mixers.
  • Follow all state and local liquor laws and health/safety regulations.
  • Assist in opening and closing duties, including cleaning, inventory counts, and cash reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth service flow and customer satisfaction.
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns with professionalism and escalate issues when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of bartending experience in a bar, restaurant, or hospitality setting.
  • Valid Smart Serve
  • Strong knowledge of classic and contemporary cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be of legal age to serve alcohol in the state/jurisdiction.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Flexible schedule with availability on nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in high-volume bars or cocktail-focused venues.
  • Knowledge of drink trends, mixology, and seasonal cocktails.
  • Basic wine and beer knowledge, including styles and pairings.
  • POS system proficiency (we use Square)
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are a plus.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.60 per hour
