Summary
WCPG is seeking a driven and energetic individual to join our team in our Vancouver office. An experienced construction Project Accountant will develop and own this position. The successful candidate will love a challenge, thrive in a busy, deadline-driven environment, and will work well independently and as part of a team. This job is for an experienced construction project accountant only. Not staff accountants or property accountants etc.
Requirements
· Fully competent and experienced working with Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate (CRE) and TimberScan.
· Minimum 4 years of experience in a project accounting role in the construction industry in B.C. a MUST HAVE.
· Construction loan draw experience.
· Job costing and budget/cost variance analysis.
· Familiar with subcontractor contracts, progress draws, change orders, holdbacks, statutory declarations, WCB clearance, and contract reconciliation.
· Holding or pursuing a CPA designation.
· Experience preparing financial statements is an asset.
· Strong work ethic and sense of continuous improvement and ownership
· Strong decision making.
· Strong communication (both verbal and written), and analytical skills. Doesn't hide behind email, willing to pick up the phone when required.
· An organized self-starter who is attentive to detail and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
· Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple tasks, likely with competing priorities.
· Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute effectively within a team environment.
· Solid computer skills – Excel (and other MS Office), V-lookup, Pivot tables.
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for being the go-to accounting contact for our construction projects. Ensuring all steps of project accounting are complete including job cost analysis and cost allocations, monthly draw requests, reconciliations and support for financial statements, and audits.
· Monitor project costs, report, and explain variances.
· Understand and analyze job proformas.
· Prepare project cash flow, cost projections, and cost at completion analyses
· Preparation of monthly progress draws for the cost consultant.
· Maintain and update standard cost codes and job records.
· Reconcile GL/WIP/Inventory and GL/AP sub- ledger accounts.
· Liaise with Project Managers, Trades, Suppliers, Consultants and other project staff.
· Letter of credit and bond reconciliation and administration.
· Preparation of audit information and support related to Construction and Development transactions.
· Monitor holdbacks, including reconciliation of subcontracts prior to releases.
· Maintain the integrity of the general ledger for Construction and Development projects.
· Handle special projects, responsibilities and other duties as assigned by the VP of Finance.
· Support the Finance, Construction and Development teams as required.
