Responsibilities

  • Safely operate tractor-trailers with automatic or manual transmissions to move trailers within the yard.
  • Shunt and position trailers for loading and unloading activities, ensuring efficient turnaround times during night and weekend shifts
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections of vehicles to verify mechanical condition and compliance with safety standards
  • Follow designated routes within the yard to facilitate smooth traffic flow while maintaining awareness of surrounding equipment and personnel
  • Maintain accurate documentation of trailer movements, load details, and shift logs to ensure operational transparency

Skills

  • Proven minimum 2 years, safe driving experience with a focus on automatic and manual transmission vehicles
  • Familiarity with operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, and roll-off trucks
  • Strong understanding of freight handling procedures for load & unload operations
  • Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and identify mechanical issues promptly
  • Skilled in route driving within yard environments with attention to safety protocols
  • Knowledge of commercial driving regulations and best practices for tractor-trailer operations
