Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Team Leader, the Mortars Operator is responsible for various tasks to maintain an efficient plant including production and batching of Sika products, performing quality control of the products, planning and coordinating product orders and general housekeeping tasks.

Shift: 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM

(Training will be on the day shift; afterward, you will transition to the afternoon shift.)

Hourly rate range: $23–$24 + shift premium

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production & Batching

    • Produce Sika dry mix mortar products by following established procedures and formulas.
    • Accurately batch materials by adding them into the mixer and ensuring proper mixing according to specifications.
    • Prepare and label products and totes for shipping with precision.
  • Equipment Operation & Maintenance

    • Safely operate forklifts and other plant equipment.
    • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections on a daily, monthly, and annual schedule.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues as they arise.
  • Safety & Compliance

    • Adhere to all company safety policies, including proper use of PPE, lock-out procedures, confined space protocols, and safe lifting practices.
    • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including daily housekeeping, waste disposal, and recycling.
    • Wear required PPE including safety glasses and steel-toe boots; company-issued uniform is provided.
  • Communication & Coordination

    • Report any non-conformances to the Team Leader or plant management.
    • Support the Team Leader and management with tasks as needed.
  • Other Duties

    • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support plant operations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma with 1 to 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably working with construction materials
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word etc.) an asset
  • Forklift license is mandatory
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to problem solve and recognize errors or concerns in Sika's products or procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Environment: Work performed both indoors and outdoors – adaptation required to fluctuations in temperature and weather conditions
  • Dusty and dirty environment
  • Uniform provided
  • Hearing protection provided and may be required in certain areas due to loud environment
  • Handling of various chemicals, proper respirator fit and wear required at times and in certain areas
  • Substantial repetitive physical effort required – ability to lift up to 30kg
  • Standing and walking required for long periods of time
  • Safely working with or around moving machinery/equipment
  • Overtime may be required
