Senior Software Developer - BizTalk Integration

Location:
British Columbia, Canada (Remote - PST hours required)

Salary Range:
$65-80 CAD/hour

Introduction

We're seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to support a critical healthcare integration modernization project. This is an opportunity to work on a large-scale enterprise integration platform upgrade that processes over 200 million messages annually, supporting vital clinical and business operations. The ideal candidate will have strong BizTalk development experience, a solid understanding of healthcare integration standards, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a skilled integration team. This 5-month contract (with potential 6-month extensions) offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on healthcare technology infrastructure.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on development experience with Microsoft BizTalk Server
  • Working knowledge of HL7 v2 messaging standards
  • Proficiency in .NET and C# development
  • Experience with Visual Studio for solution development
  • Experience with Azure DevOps (On-Premises)
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle methodologies
  • Experience creating technical project documentation
  • Experience working in large team environments with multiple stakeholders including project managers and business analysts
  • Experience working on large healthcare integration initiatives/projects
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
  • Must be available to work Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with healthcare organizations
  • Knowledge of FHIR and API integration standards
  • Experience with enterprise-scale integration platforms
  • Familiarity with healthcare compliance and security standards
  • Background in system migrations and platform upgrades

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Convert BizTalk 2016 Visual Studio solutions to BizTalk 2020 format following established conversion guidelines
  • Review and refactor code, schemas, maps, pipelines, and orchestrations to ensure compliance with organizational development standards
  • Perform unit testing on all converted solutions and document test results
  • Identify and remediate obsolete components or unsupported practices during the conversion process
  • Update and maintain technical documentation to reflect changes made during conversion
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Integration Services Team and participate in regular project meetings
  • Provide progress updates and highlight any risks or issues requiring attention
  • Support knowledge transfer to internal staff to ensure sustainable operations post-conversion
  • Work independently while maintaining close coordination with team leads and stakeholders
