Senior Software Developer - BizTalk Integration
Location:
British Columbia, Canada (Remote - PST hours required)
Salary Range:
$65-80 CAD/hour
Introduction
We're seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to support a critical healthcare integration modernization project. This is an opportunity to work on a large-scale enterprise integration platform upgrade that processes over 200 million messages annually, supporting vital clinical and business operations. The ideal candidate will have strong BizTalk development experience, a solid understanding of healthcare integration standards, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a skilled integration team. This 5-month contract (with potential 6-month extensions) offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on healthcare technology infrastructure.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on development experience with Microsoft BizTalk Server
- Working knowledge of HL7 v2 messaging standards
- Proficiency in .NET and C# development
- Experience with Visual Studio for solution development
- Experience with Azure DevOps (On-Premises)
- Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle methodologies
- Experience creating technical project documentation
- Experience working in large team environments with multiple stakeholders including project managers and business analysts
- Experience working on large healthcare integration initiatives/projects
- Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
- Must be available to work Pacific Standard Time (PST) hours
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience working with healthcare organizations
- Knowledge of FHIR and API integration standards
- Experience with enterprise-scale integration platforms
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance and security standards
- Background in system migrations and platform upgrades
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Convert BizTalk 2016 Visual Studio solutions to BizTalk 2020 format following established conversion guidelines
- Review and refactor code, schemas, maps, pipelines, and orchestrations to ensure compliance with organizational development standards
- Perform unit testing on all converted solutions and document test results
- Identify and remediate obsolete components or unsupported practices during the conversion process
- Update and maintain technical documentation to reflect changes made during conversion
- Collaborate with the Enterprise Integration Services Team and participate in regular project meetings
- Provide progress updates and highlight any risks or issues requiring attention
- Support knowledge transfer to internal staff to ensure sustainable operations post-conversion
- Work independently while maintaining close coordination with team leads and stakeholders
