POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Maintenance Manager oversees all aspects of equipment and facility maintenance, repair, and building operations to ensure a safe, secure, and efficient workplace. This role includes managing maintenance staff and contractors, developing preventive maintenance schedules, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and managing the building's physical security systems. The position requires strong leadership, planning, and technical skills to maintain critical infrastructure while minimizing downtime and security risks.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance Execution

Predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance for deep hole drills, manual and CNC lathes, milling machines, and grinding equipment (e.g., Mazak, Danobat, Doosan, Okuma, Tacchi).Develop, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance programs.Utilize diagnostic tools and predictive technologies (vibration analysis, thermal imaging) to anticipate failures.

Scheduling & Reliability

Build and execute detailed maintenance schedules that minimize operational disruptions.Improve machine reliability across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) for recurring failures and implement long-term corrective actions.

Team Leadership

Lead maintenance technicians, cleaners, and contractors.Prioritize, allocate resources, and drive workflow efficiency aligned with production needs.

Facility Management

Oversee building security systems (access control, CCTV, alarms, perimeter security).Conduct facility inspections and risk assessments focused on safety and security.Manage compliance activities and audits (e.g., ESA, ISO, insurance bodies, financial institutions).

Emergency Systems

Maintain emergency systems including generators, sprinklers, and alarms.Coordinate emergency response plans, including fire drills and evacuation procedures.

Budget & Asset Management

Manage maintenance budgets, cost control, repair documentation, and spare parts inventory.Support capital projects, infrastructure upgrades, and facility expansion initiatives.

EXPECTATIONS

Implement and optimize CMMS tools to manage spares, repairs, and maintenance activities.Maximize machine uptime in alignment with operational KPIs.Deliver projects on time and on budget.Maintain 100% compliance to the preventive maintenance schedule.Ensure strong team attendance and proactive vacation planning.Maintain zero safety incidents within the department.Track and optimize machine downtime, time-to-repair, and OEE.Meet budget targets for facility and machine maintenance.Eliminate product defects stemming from machine issues.Lead adoption of predictive maintenance technologies.Ensure CNC machine alignment across all axes.Prevent machine-related delays impacting customer deliveries.

HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain an effective Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) system with proper re-energization checklists.Comply with all applicable health and safety legislation, regulations, and internal policies.Promote a respectful, harassment-free, and discrimination-free work environment.Report defective equipment or protective devices that could pose a risk.Report any contravention of OHSA regulations or internal policies.Do not operate equipment or perform work in a manner that endangers anyone.Avoid pranks, roughhousing, or any unsafe physical activity.Understand and follow all safe work practices and procedures.Follow established procedures for handling equipment and materials (proper lifting, etc.).Use equipment and materials only as intended.Attend mandatory safety training and apply the knowledge consistently.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Diploma or degree in Facilities Management, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related field.

Experience

Minimum 5 years of facility/building maintenance management (manufacturing preferred).Minimum 10 years maintaining complex manufacturing systems.Experience managing physical security systems and access control.Strong understanding of HSE standards.Aerospace industry experience is an asset.Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO9001.Proficiency with CMMS and MS Office.Demonstrated experience with scheduling tools and linked systems.
