Native Early Childhood Educators and Early Childhood Educators

We are currently looking to hire a Native Early Childhood Educator and Early Childhood Educator. This position would be in Early ON Child and Family centre. Part-time and full-time positions available. This position will be enhancing our EarlyON programs. The position is for 35 hours per week. Pay is in accordance with the NHCS Salary Grid (RECE probation rate $27.23 and Assistant probation rate $23.71).

Requirements:

• Ability to work between the hours of 7:30 am to 5:30 pm with some evenings and weekends. Must have the ability to work between the hours of 7:30 am to 5:30pm pm with some evenings.
• Preference will be given to those who have an ECE Diploma or Degree and who are registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators. Non-ECE's would be paid at the Assistant Rate according to the NHCS Salary grid. Director Approval may be received for an SSW, CYW, DSW, PSW or similar post secondary education.
• Must be able to obtain a clear recent Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check and meet health requirements, have First Aid and CPR (infant and child) up-to-date, and provide three references.
• NHCS reserves the right to limit the notice entitlement upon termination to the minimum standards of the Employment Standards Act.

Experience and Abilities.

• Must have theoretical knowledge of the practice of early childhood education and family support.
• Learn to program creatively in a play-based, emergent environment, supportive of children and their families in compliance with the NHCS Program Statement and the Child Care and Early Years Act.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Ministry of Education pedagogical documents including "How Does Learning Happen" and "Think, Feel, Act"
• Be flexible, show initiative, work well with Early ON team and independently, adhering to centre policies.
• Fundamental knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Child Care Early Years Act, College of ECE Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.
