Job Summary

We are currently seeking a TRAVEL Field Health and Safety Coordinator/Inspector to join our team in Spruce Grove, Edmonton, and surrounding areas. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals passionate about health and safety and eager to grow within the industry. The position involves performing site inspections, conducting safety assessments, advising clients on health and safety compliance, and promoting a culture of safety at various client worksites.

Please Note:

  • This is an entry-level position with strong potential for growth
  • Salary increases are based on job performance
  • Starting pay is $25 – $28 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
  • Candidates MUST BE WILLING to travel to job sites - job sites are currently in AB, BC and Yukon - travel will be every 2 weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site safety inspections to ensure compliance with provincial, federal, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Identify hazards and provide practical, corrective action recommendations.
  • Assist clients in developing and maintaining effective health and safety programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepare thorough inspection reports and hazard assessments.
  • Deliver safety training sessions, orientations, and toolbox talks as needed.
  • Evaluate and monitor safety practices and equipment, offering improvement strategies.
  • Build strong client relationships and provide customized safety solutions based on specific operational needs.
  • Stay current with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Support incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Foster and promote a safety-first mindset among client teams and stakeholders.
  • Assist during client audits and regulatory inspections.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a health and safety role, preferably in field-based work across Alberta's industries (e.g., construction, oil and gas, manufacturing).
  • Health and Safety certifications such as CRSP, NCSO, or equivalent are considered assets.
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta OHS regulations, risk management practices, and safety management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to advise clients at all organizational levels.
  • Proven ability to identify hazards and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to handle multiple inspections/projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with incident investigations, audits, and safety reporting.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required for travel to client sites throughout Alberta.
  • Following certifications are preferred OR required:
  • First Aid/CPR certification (required)
  • H2S Alive (preferred)
  • Fall Protection (preferred)
  • CSTS or CSO (required)
  • Inspections and Hazard Assessment (required)
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
