Job Title: multi skilled Carpenter / Jack of All Trades

Reports To: Project Manager

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced, versatile Carpenter / Jack of All Trades to join MET HOMES. The ideal candidate will have strong carpentry skills combined with proficiency in multiple trades, and be capable of leading a team while executing quality work. This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a keen eye for detail, ensuring that every project meets the high standards our clients expect.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carpentry Expertise: Perform high-end carpentry work, including framing, custom cabinetry, millwork, trim, doors, windows, and flooring installation, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard.
  • Multi-Trade Skills: Take on diverse roles within a variety of trades, such as drywall, painting, and basic understand of plumbing and electrical to help direct our subtrades, when needed, to ensure project deadlines are met.
  • Tiling experience would be an asset
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor skilled labours and subcontractors, providing clear direction and support to ensure work is done efficiently and to the highest quality.
  • Project Oversight: Lead by example, ensuring that tasks are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety standards and building codes.
  • Client Relations: Interact with clients on-site to ensure their expectations are met, address concerns, and provide project updates as needed.
  • Problem-Solving: Tackle complex challenges on-site with creative solutions, ensuring the smooth progression of projects even in the face of unexpected obstacles.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, designers, and other tradespeople to ensure seamless coordination between all aspects of the project.
  • Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections of completed work to ensure craftsmanship meets company standards and client expectations.
  • Worksite Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site, ensuring that tools, materials, trailers and equipment are properly stored and that safety protocols are followed.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a carpenter, lead role overseeing teams and projects would be an asset.
  • Skill Set: Expertise in both traditional and modern carpentry techniques, with the ability to perform other trades like drywall installation, painting, tiling, and basic plumbing/electrical.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate a team of skilled tradespeople.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong eye for high-quality craftsmanship and an uncompromising approach to work.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and colleagues.
  • Adaptability: Ability to pivot between tasks and problem-solve in dynamic, fast-paced work environments.
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy materials, work on feet for extended periods, and perform physical tasks as required.
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
