Employment Opportunity: Skilled Child and Youth Worker (CYW) or CYC(Community Support Worker & Professional Friend)

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Child and Youth Worker or CYC to serve as a Community Support Worker and Professional Friend for a remarkable 17-year-old Black female exceptional student who has social anxiety challenges.

Position Summary:

  • · Provide one-on-one support, mentorship, and companionship in home and community settings
  • · Foster a supportive milieu to help her build social skills, self-confidence, and independence
  • · Encourage participation in community and recreational activities, while being mindful of social anxiety triggers
  • · Serve as a positive role model and advocate, ensuring the youth feels heard, respected, and empowered
  • · Work closely with a supervisor/other support professional to ensure holistic care

Qualifications:

· An advanced student of or a holder of a diploma or degree in Child & Youth Work, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or related field

· A Black female professional who has demonstrated experience supporting Black youth and/or youth with exceptional academic performance who may have social anxiety challenges

  • · Strong understanding of cultural competence and anti-oppressive practices
  • · Knowledge of social anxiety management and youth empowerment strategies
  • · Excellent communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills
  • · Current First Aid & CPR, vulnerable sector check required
  • · Should reside in or near the Oakville area
