We're looking for an Accounting and Finance Officer to join our progressive Internal Accounting and Finance team. The ideal candidate will deliver accounting support services through the preparation, analysis, and maintenance of daily, weekly, and monthly account reconciliations.
What You'll Do
- Identifies and reports issues arising from regular reconciliations and tasks.
- Reviews accounts payable and expense claim submissions for reasonability while analyzing inputs and validating to Affinity procedure providing feedback, guidance and support.
- Maintains internal systems including developing and documenting procedures and retention of payments history.
- Prepares journal entries and validates reasonability of entries prepared by others prior to processing.
- Proactively engages with vendors regarding issues, process improvements, EFT validations and setup and work with vendors to ensure excise tax requirements are met.
- Maintains fixed assets and depreciation continuity schedules, performs review
and analysis of accounts payables and expense claims, ensures compliance with GST/HST/PST requirements, etc.
- Proactively identifies and implements efficiencies including improved processes, development of spreadsheets and import templates, etc.
- Collaborates with other business units to provide solutions that advance completion of accounting tasks and reconciliations impacting members. o Develops efficiency tools for processing more complex journal entries including creating effective import templates.

What You've Got
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Intermediate knowledge and experience in financial reporting, accounting standards and principles, and their application within a business or operational setting; University level Financial Accounting course
- Intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel
- Working knowledge of accounting software programs, e.g., Accpac, QuickBooks
