PROJECT FINANCE ANALYST

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Natural Forces is seeking a candidate to fill a Project Finance Analyst role to support our Finance and Accounting team, working cross-functionally to support internal project teams. This is a full-time position based in Halifax, NS. The primary responsibilities are:
- Conducting research, gathering data, model building, monitoring project performance and reporting.
- Coordinating with project teams to ensure financial goals are met throughout the project lifecycle.
KEY TASKS/DUTIES
Project Analysis
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to assess funding needs, project development, financial viability of projects and potential risks.
- Prepare commercial analyses; prepare financial models and forecasts to support decision-making process.
- Provide estimates to support pricing of Project Management Agreements, Development Service Agreements and Asset Management Agreements.
- Manage utility metering process including data collection and preparing statements.
Project Financial Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor and report on budget performance, making recommendations for adjustments as required.
Development Funding Management
- Collaborate with project managers and senior leadership to develop comprehensive funding strategies that align with organizational goals and project requirements.
- Act as a primary point of contact for funding-related inquiries and communication; provide clear and concise updates to stakeholders, including project teams, management and external partners.
Contractual Compliance
- Ensure project funding activities comply with regulations, standards and organizational policies and best practices.
- Prepare and present regular reports on funding status, financial performance and progress to stakeholders.
- Manage compliance for various operating agreements such as Power Purchase Agreements and service contracts.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years experience in financial analysis, funding management, or a related role within a finance/accounting environment.
- Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field combined with experience.
- Professional certification (CPA, CFA) or master's degree considered an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of financial markets, funding instruments and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in excel, financial software and databases, as well as enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
