Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Dog Walker/Pet Sitter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care for all pets and exercise for dogs while ensuring their safety and well-being during walks. This position is ideal for individuals who love animals and enjoy spending time outdoors. As a Dog Walker & Pet Sitter you will have the opportunity to build strong relationships with both pets and their owners, delivering outstanding customer service in every interaction.​

This is an Independant Contractor position. Servicing Merrickville and the surrounding areas, including but not limited to Smiths Falls & Kemptville.

Please note that this job requires individuals who are comfortable working with dogs of various sizes and temperments. Patience, reliability and a genuine love for animals are essential qualities for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Walk dogs of various sizes and breeds, ensuring they receive adequate exercise and mental stimulation.
  • Caring for client's pets in their home​
  • Maintain a safe environment for the dogs during walks, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their pet's behavior and needs.
  • Provide basic care such as feeding, administering medication if needed, and cleaning up waste.
  • Monitor the health and behavior of each pet, reporting any concerns to the owner promptly.​
  • Maintain accurate records of each walk, including duration and any notable observations.
  • Build rapport with clients through friendly interactions and professionalism.

Skills

  • Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and address their needs.
  • A genuine love for animals, with the ability to handle dogs of various temperaments.
  • Excellent time management skills to ensure timely visits and adherence to schedules.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations, particularly when handling multiple dogs or unexpected events.
  • Basic knowledge of dog behavior and pet first aid​
  • Physical fitness to manage walking multiple dogs over varying distances. Walking km daily​

Mandatory Requirements

  • Have a valid driver's license and own a reliable vehicle
  • Provide a clean criminal record check
  • Previous experience working with dogs in a proffesional capacity

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract, Casual, Freelance

Contract length: 18 months

Pay: $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
