Salary:

$82, $121,155.00 Per year

Effective, April 1, 2025, the new salary range for this position will be $84,478 to $124,487 per year in accordance with AMAPCEO collective agreement provisions.

About the job

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of privacy and access programs, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Guide staff and oversee final approvals as per protocols.
  • Advise managers on handling FIPPA and PHIPA requests.
  • Review and approve information content and responses.
  • Develop various documents including formal responses, briefing notes, report backs, findings, reports, and website updates.
  • Administer the mediation and appeals process for complex cases.
  • Support senior management in responding to /representing the ministries before the Information and Privacy Commissioner (IPC).
  • Implement ongoing training initiatives for staff and process improvements in the FIPPA, PHIPA and RIM.
  • Coordinate activities related to privacy breach investigations.
  • Brief in collaboration with management senior level executives in divisions, ministers offices, Deputy Minister's Office and or other key stakeholders.
What you bring to the team
Leadership and Relationship Management Skills:
  • You have strong leadership skills to collaborate, provide advice and technical direction to consultants.
  • You know how to consult with executives and program managers and other key contacts (Cabinet Office, Central Agency specialists, Divisional Leads, and peers in other ministries).
  • You work well overall with others and are able to understand the needs of ministry clients.
Specialized Knowledge and Legislation:
  • You have knowledge of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) programs, governing legislation, procedures and policies.
  • You have specialized knowledge to lead and support staff when representing two ministries in mediation, appeals, and investigation processes
  • You have up-to-date knowledge of the trends and precedents regarding access and privacy issues
  • You can apply adult education theory, methods and principles to develop and implement training and education programs.
Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
  • You can apply your analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to evaluate various access to information requests
  • You can evaluate new requests efficiently and determine the appropriate course of action for staff and provide appropriate advice to ministry clients
  • You weigh the risks and benefits of a course of action when resolving issues
  • You can anticipate and mitigate challenges
Communication and Computer Skills:
  • You communicate clearly and engage in presentations to promote clear and open communication with senior management
  • You know how to prepare a broad range of written materials (e.g. briefing notes, presentations, compliance notes)
  • You have well-developed computer software skills (e.g. administration databases, case management system technologies, MS Office).
