POSITION TYPE: Part-Time, Term Position Available (anticipated December 8, 2025 up to March 31, 2026)

SALARY: $ $51.43 hourly

  • The successful candidate with a Masters or PhD in a related field will receive an Educational Supplement of $2,850 or $5,700 per annum, respectively, pro-rated on an hourly basis.

DUTIES

Reporting to the Chair of Animation, Digital Media Design, and Game Development, Red River College Polytechnic is looking for an Instructor to teach Visual Storytelling, a course in the Animation program. This course is designed to develop students' essential storytelling and communication skills, with a focus on collaborative work, presenting to diverse audiences, and leveraging stories to build cultural and community resilience as professional animators. Responsibilities include classroom instruction, supervision and guidance of students, student evaluation, advising of students, maintenance of student records and other professional duties related to instruction. The incumbent could also be required to participate in department and College committees and assist in student orientation and graduation activities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma in Animation, Illustration, Film, Creative Writing, or a related field
  • Professional experience in the animation industry or in the comics/graphic novels industry, with a focus on creative or production roles
  • Professional experience in an animation story department or equivalent paid storytelling roles (e.g., story artist, story revisionist, writer, writer's assistant, storyboard coordinator, or paid writing/editing work in comics or graphic novels)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to use conflict resolution techniques to facilitate positive outcomes
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to teach on campus and remotely
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work independently as well as in small to large group settings
  • Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience developing curriculum and instructing at a post-secondary level
  • Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education
  • Experience developing and instructing distance-delivered courses including online
  • Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver blended (synchronous and asynchronous) instruction
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with Indigenous storytelling traditions and narratives in a creative or editorial capacity

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • This position may be required to work evenings and/or weekends
  • This position may be required to work throughout the academic year including the summer months
  • Instructors are required to complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program or have previously completed the Certificate in Adult Education (CAE)
  • May be required to work at various RRC Polytech campuses
