En quoi consiste ce rôle? Responsabilités principals : 

  • Diriger l'élaboration de conceptions de structures et de béton en assurant la conformité aux codes et aux normes de l'industrie pertinents. 

  • Diriger les études conceptuelles, y compris l'estimation des quantités et les conceptions préliminaires 

  • Effectuer une conception détaillée du béton et de l'acier, y compris l'interaction avec les dessinateurs pour produire des modèles et de la documentation conformes à la conformité à l'assurance de la qualité 

  • Aider avec les demandes de construction, y compris le levage et le montage sécuritaires 

  • Interface avec d'autres disciplines du génie, y compris l'électricité, les procédés et la mécanique 

  • Accent mis sur l'innovation technique et l'amélioration continue 

  • Fournir des conseils et du mentorat aux ingénieurs juniors

Sedgman Novopro Ltd is currently looking for a Senior Structural Engineering Lead to join our team in Montreal, Quebec. He/she will be responsible for overseeing and managing structural engineering projects; this includes conducting structural design, investigation, managing project budgets and schedules, as well as preparing technical reports. The ideal incumbent will be a mentor and coach to a young and enthusiastic team. 

Sedgman is a consulting engineering company in the mining space and is currently experiencing a rapid expansion of the Montreal office; they are positioned for growth, and this role is business critical within the organization.

What does this role involve? Main Responsibilities: 

  • Lead development of structural and concrete designs ensuring compliance with relevant codes, industry standards. 

  • Lead concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs 

  • Perform detailed concrete and steel design, including interaction with Drafters to produce models and documentation in line with QA Compliance 

  • Assist with construction enquiries, including safe lifting and erection 

  • Interface with other Engineering disciplines, including Electrical, Process and Mechanical 

  • Focus on technical innovation and continuous improvement 

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers

Que recherchons-nous chez notre futur membre de l'équipe? Qualifications requises : 

  • Baccalauréat en génie des structures

  • Membre de l'ordre des ingénieurs du Québec de l'Ordre. Ingénieur au Québec);   

  • 15 ans d'expérience en génie des structures, dont au moins 5 ans dans un rôle de direction ou de direction

  • Bonne compréhension de la conception de l'acier et du béton pour les structures industrielles lourdes. 

  • Connaissances et expérience solides démontrées dans les environnements de conception, de consultation et d'exploitation 

  • Une expérience antérieure dans l'industrie minière ou métallurgique est fortement recherchée 

  • Capacité d'autogérer le temps, les priorités et les activités de manière sécuritaire et efficace. 

  • Compétences en communication et en négociation bien développées 

  • Une expérience du code du bâtiment canadien dans toutes les provinces est souhaitable 

  • Doit être admissible à travailler au Canada sans parrainage

  • Excellentes compétences en communication et en relations interpersonnelles; capable de travailler avec les clients, les parties prenantes clés, les entrepreneurs, les collègues (personnel technique et non technique)

What are we looking for in our future team member? Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in structural engineering

  • Member of the ordre des ingenieurs du Québec OIQ (Professional. Engineer in Quebec);   

  • 15 years of structural engineering experience, with at least 5 in years in a lead or senior role

  • Strong understanding of steel and concrete design for heavy industrial structures. 

  • Demonstrated sound knowledge and experience in design/consultancy/operational environments 

  • Previous mining or metals industry experience is highly desired 

  • Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities 

  • Well-developed communication and negotiation skills 

  • Experience with Canadian building code across the provinces is desirable 

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship

  • Language requirements: excellent spoken and written French. Strong

    spoken English skills are required due to daily contact with clients,

    suppliers, partners, and colleagues based outside Quebec.
