What is Steamoji?

Steamoji is a maker academy that complements children's school learning by introducing them to fabrication, physical computing, engineering, and digital arts—while developing essential soft skills such as design thinking, growth mindset, and entrepreneurship. Apprentices are challenged to imagine, create, share, and improve their own solutions using real-world tools and technologies.

  • Work with 4–6 apprentices per session to complete missions and projects
  • Guide apprentices through hands-on making while ensuring tool and equipment safety
  • Review instructional content and prepare sessions in advance
  • Provide meaningful feedback to parents and the Academy Director on apprentice progress
  • Create and share video artifacts documenting student learning
  • Maintain fabrication equipment (e.g., 3D printers, laser cutters)
  • Ensure student projects are fabricated on time for upcoming sessions
  • Manage inventory, materials, and supplies within the academy
  • Uphold Steamoji's culture, values, and learning environment

Qualifications:

  • At least a High School diploma; post-secondary education or relevant STEM experience is an asset
  • Experience working with children or youth is a strong plus
  • Basic knowledge of coding, technology, or digital fabrication (or ability to learn quickly)
