Role Overview
We are looking for a skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our Haylock paving division. In this role, you will support our paving operations by diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment and trucks used daily by our crews. You'll play an essential part in keeping our operations safe, efficient, and ready to roll.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools
- Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment such as loaders, pavers, rollers, trucks, milling machines, and related machinery
- Assemble, disassemble, and replace mechanical components as required
- Conduct routine inspections to proactively identify issues
- Utilize hand tools and diagnostic equipment accurately and safely
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and crew members regarding repair needs and timelines
- Maintain complete and accurate service and repair records
- Work collaboratively to ensure all equipment meets safety and operational standards
Qualifications
- Red Seal Certification
- Proven experience working with heavy equipment in the roadbuilding or construction industry
- Strong mechanical knowledge, particularly in hydraulics and mobile equipment systems
- Ability to read and interpret schematics for troubleshooting
- Proficiency with hand tools and diagnostic equipment
- Strong communication skills and a customer-service approach
- Valid driver's license and clean abstract
Education
- Skilled Trade Certificate — required
Experience
- 2+ years as a Heavy Duty Mechanic (preferred)
