Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic to join our Haylock paving division. In this role, you will support our paving operations by diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment and trucks used daily by our crews. You'll play an essential part in keeping our operations safe, efficient, and ready to roll.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment such as loaders, pavers, rollers, trucks, milling machines, and related machinery
  • Assemble, disassemble, and replace mechanical components as required
  • Conduct routine inspections to proactively identify issues
  • Utilize hand tools and diagnostic equipment accurately and safely
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors and crew members regarding repair needs and timelines
  • Maintain complete and accurate service and repair records
  • Work collaboratively to ensure all equipment meets safety and operational standards

Qualifications

  • Red Seal Certification
  • Proven experience working with heavy equipment in the roadbuilding or construction industry
  • Strong mechanical knowledge, particularly in hydraulics and mobile equipment systems
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics for troubleshooting
  • Proficiency with hand tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-service approach
  • Valid driver's license and clean abstract

Education

  • Skilled Trade Certificate — required

Experience

  • 2+ years as a Heavy Duty Mechanic (preferred)
