The Family and Children's Services Branch promotes and develops the capacity of families and communities to care for and protect vulnerable children and youth while supporting healthy child and family development to maximize the potential of every child in the Yukon. The Branch is responsible for territory-wide delivery of services and programs that support positive and healthy outcomes for children, youth, and their families.

Who We Are Looking For
As part of a child welfare organization and reporting to the Manager of Child Placement Services, the Supervisor, Community Caregiver and Placement Services is responsible to provide leadership and coordination for the Placement Resource Unit and Community Caregiver program. As the supervisor of this professional team, you will be responsible for casework supervision, providing comprehensive case management and leading the recruitment and retention of community caregiver (formerly foster care) and other placement resources. The successful candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as you represent the Department of Health and Social Services, Family and Children's Services at the local, regional and national levels

Essential qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications below. Selections for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

  • Bachelor of Social Work or degree in the Social/Behavioural Sciences.
  • Considerable supervisory experience in a health care or social services setting.
  • Considerable experience working in child welfare.
  • Experience with family assessments, family support, counseling and crisis interventions.

  • Ability to investigate and resolve quality of care issues in foster homes.
  • Ability to conduct and evaluate home studies on caregiver applicants.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Overall knowledge of child welfare services.
  • Ability to lead and work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of working with various cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to develop and maintain program evaluations
